I purchased a few things from Rose Inc recently to try, and there are some hits and misses for me. I picked up the skin tint, cream blush, and one of each lip product. There is also a concealer and eyebrow gel but those are things I don’t use much anymore, so decided to skip on those. Also not planning to get the new cream bronzer and highlighter. There are just other cream bronzers newly released now that I am more excited about (I got the new Nars Laguna and Chanel cream bronzers as well as the Charlotte Tilbury, reviews on those shortly) and a girl only needs so many cream bronzers! I mean, I only have one face after all. If you have tried any of the other Rose Inc products I would love to hear about your experiences with them.
Luminous Skin Tint Serum Foundation
Of all the releases from this brand, the skin tint (C$65, available in 14 shades) is the product I am most excited about. It is little pigment spheres suspended in a base of sodium hyaluronate, squalene, and peptides that provides skincare properties. Coverage is sheer with a radiant finish. To use, pump the foundation onto the back of your hand, and mix with a brush to ‘pop’ the little spheres to release the pigment before application.
I am not going to comment on the skincare properties of this product, simply because I don’t have that level of knowledge, except to say that the product did indeed feel hydrating. Besides, I am not buying this for use as skincare anyway. As a foundation, I am in love. It provided a sheer tint (haha) and glow to my face, perfect for a no-makeup makeup look. On days I am not wearing a full face of makeup, just a swipe of this, some mascara, blush, and lip gloss, and I am good to go. I didn’t experience any dry patches or greasiness throughout the day. Shade 20 is a great match for me, but I suspect for something that is so sheer, the exact match probably does not matter as much.
For those familiar, this product could pass as a dupe for the Chanel Eau de Teint. I love my Chanel tint, and it is one of the very few foundations I have finished and repurchased. The main pros Rose Inc has over the Chanel are the price (the Chanel costs an eye-watering C$85), scent (for those who can’t stand the Chanel scent, the Rose Inc is fragrance free), shade range (Chanel only has 8 shades). However, I don’t think I love the Rose Inc enough to replace my beloved Chanel water tint with it. It is hard to describe, but there is something about the Chanel tint after application that is just…magical. An effect that this product couldn’t replicate. To the eye there is absolutely zero difference between the two, and yet, my skin looks amazing and more alive with the Chanel tint.
Dewy Cream Blush
The Dewy Cream Blush (C$40) is available in 6 shades. I picked up one in the shade Heliotrope, described as an apricot, to try. First, let’s get out of the way that the packaging reminds me a lot of a toilet bowl. Sorry, but I just cannot unsee it. The odd shape aside, the component is rather well made, it is quite sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap in hand. The blush is refillable, refills retail for C$24. The new cream highlighter is the same size and can fit in this case as well.
This blush has a finish that is soft and glowy. It is not very pigmented, but buildable if need be. It worked well over base products and did not lift up my foundation. The only con I could find is that the lasting power is lacking, but cream blushes generally tend to fade faster on me, so that is not surprising or something that bothers me.
Lip Products
I have one of each lip product. The Lip Sculpt Lip Crayon (C$35, available in 4 shades) I received as part of a Sephora Favorites set. I don’t usually like the lip crayon kind of packaging, and certainly not with a $35 price tag. This I would not have got if it didn’t already come as part of a set. The finish is matte but not drying. I think it’s an ok product, but just not one I would reach for.
The Satin Refillable Hydrating Lipstick (C$37, 10 shades) is the better amongst the two lip products, especially with such a small price difference between them. Plus, you can pick up refills for C$24, which makes this a better deal in comparison. You can use the refills on their own without purchasing the case. I have the shade Besotted, described as a beige pink. It definitely runs a lot warmer than I expected, but still quite flattering on my skin tone. It is quite a light hydrating lipstick, offering slightly more coverage than a balm. The one thing to note is that there is a floral-ish scent that will linger on the lips. It doesn’t bother me, but it was just surprising because it is more in line with what I would expect from a luxury brand and not from a clean beauty brand.
Here I have swatched both lip products along with the blush.
Have you tried any of these products? Would love to hear your thoughts!
