I recently tried out the new Patrick Ta Creme Foundation and Finishing Powder Duo, and spoiler alert, I love it! This foundation is available for C$69 at Sephora.
This foundation is laid out like Patrick Ta’s other products, a cream and powder duo with the cream portion protected by a plastic cover. The cream base is described as a skin-like, buildable, and breathable. I really enjoy this cream formula. I tend to find most cream foundations too heavy and cake-like for my tastes, but this one is light and breathable as claimed. Even though on the lighter coverage side, I found that I did not really need concealer because this did so well evening out any imperfections. I like it best applied with a damp sponge. The brand suggests applying with the accompanying brush which I did not pick up because I generally do not like applying my foundation that way.
It has good lasting power for me, and did not sink into fine lines. With adequate skin prep as Patrick Ta recommends, I find that the foundation did not cling to dry patches. My favourite is applying this over the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream.
Because it is so skin-like, I think there is some flexibility in shade matching. I went with the shade Light 1, and found it a really good match for me (I am a NC20 in Mac, and 2N in Dior).
The setting powder is light, described to have a skin-like finish while blurring the appearance of pores. For me, the powder is good but nothing special. It is not too matte or cakey, but also did not do much to control oil breakthrough on my t-zone. I needed to touch up every few hours when using this powder.
Bottom line, I think this foundation ranks up among my favourites. It is also really convenient, and I can see myself using this when traveling. Highly recommend! Only wish this is refillable so I could just buy the cream portion.
