Gucci recently launched a collection of blushes called the Luminous Matte Beauty Blushes. As the name suggests, these are blushes that have a matte finish but also have a beautiful sheen. In Canada, these are available at Sephora and Holt Renfrew, with a hefty price tag of C$65 each. I picked up 4 of the 6 shades to try.
I am happy to report that these performed as beautifully as promised. The blushes are finely milled and blend seamlessly. They are also buildable and have great lasting power.
These blushes claim to have skincare properties with ingredients such as shea butter and hyaluronic acid. I can’t speak to the benefits of including such ingredients in a blush, and am honestly skeptical if skincare in makeup really even does anything at all. But it is nice to have I suppose.
One thing to note is that these blushes do have a floral scent, similar to Gucci’s other powder products. It is strong at first, but fades fairly quickly. Scents like this do not bother me, but be warned if you are sensitive to scents.
I am also in love with the pretty packaging!
The four shades I picked up are:
- 02 Tender Apricot
- 03 Radiant Pink
- 04 Bright Coral
- 05 Rosy Beige
These blushes are multi-use and can also be used on the eyes. I did not test them as eyeshadow because I will never use it that way. The only shade I could see myself potentially using on the eyes, perhaps in a pinch, is Rosy Beige. Pink and coral shades like these are just not flattering on my skin tone as eyeshadow. If you have tried them out as eyeshadow, do let me know what you think!
Overall I am really happy with these! Of the four shades, Tender Apricot is my favourite. It adds just the right touch of brightness. Do I think they are worth the price tag and are absolute must-haves? Probably not. But am I happy to have them in my collection? Absolutely!
