There is a new addition to the Dior Backstage Eye Palette collection, and here is a look at it with swatches. You can find the Dior Backstage collection at Sephora.
The new eye palette features coral shades for the spring/summer season. It is one of the most beautiful coral palettes I own. Coral shades don’t always look good on me, a lot tend to be too warm or orange, but this one is really rather wearable due to the nature of the formula. If you are familiar with the Dior Backstage formula, this one is similar to the other palettes. The shadows apply rather sheer, offering the option of just a sheer wash of colour, but are buildable if wanted.
This palette has eight shades, offering a good mix of mattes and shimmers. The first shade on the top left is a cream eye primer. These shadows are multipurpose powders, and can work as highlight, blush, and bronzer.
I think all the shades performed really well on the eyes. They applied smoothly, were easy to blend or build, and I did not experience any fallout. Since this is a multipurpose palette, I also tried using them on the face. The highlight (center, top row) works well to provide a subtle glow. I love the top right shade as a light neutral coral blush, and imagine the other shades would work great as shimmery blushes with more of an impact. The bottom right shade is described as a bronzer, it worked well and is a nice shade, but I don’t think I will reach for it as a bronzer unless in a pinch because it was really annoying to try to fit a bronzer brush into that tiny pan.
Overall, I think this is a great little palette. I love the Dior Backstage palettes, and this one is no exception. My one criticism though is that I wish they would replace that primer shade with another powder. I almost never use the primers in eye palettes. This primer did nothing for me as the shadows started to crease after a few hours. My lids are hooded and oily, so your experience may be different (using concealers as primers do not work for me either). I am happy to add this to my collection, it is so rare that a coral palette is flattering on my skin tone, and this one is gorgeous. This could actually be a good little travel palette with eyes, blush, and highlight all in one palette.
