Charlotte Tilbury is really keeping the new releases coming. Recently, she released a matte version of her blush wands, and of course I can’t resist! I love the formula of her Light and Contour wands and had to give these a try. Spoiler alert: they are amazing.
I have been using these for a couple of weeks now and love them. I prefer these over the Beauty Light Wands just because the matte finish is so much more everyday friendly. They are everything a liquid blush should be: blendable, buildable, does not disturb any existing base, lasts for several hours, does not highlight existing texture, you get the drift.
I find these decently pigmented and a little goes a long way as you can see from the swatches below. The swatches are simply one swipe of the wand on my arm. Application wise, what works best for me is to just dab the product directly onto the brush to apply. This helps so much more with placement and prevents the problem of it drying down before you are able to blend it out.
I have 3 of the 4 shades available:
- Pink Pop – Described as a pink matte, but really more of a peachy pink, my second favourite shade of the bunch.
- Peach Pop – Described as a nude peach matte. This shade is actually quite bright and not what I would think of when I think of a nude shade.
- Pillow Talk – Rosy matte, my favourite shade of the three. It is reminiscent of the Pillow Talk Cheek to Chic blush.
Here are the shades swatched:
Now, despite all the pros, there is one major con for me with these blushes and that is the packaging. I absolutely dislike this squeezy wand type packaging. It is annoyingly difficult to avoid squeezing out too much product (perhaps that is the whole point, so that we will need a replacement sooner!) and you have to remember to turn the dial to the “off” position to prevent accidentally squeezing out more product when not in use. If I didn’t love the formula so much, I would not be putting up with this packaging.
Three shades are available at retailers like Sephora and Nordstrom, while the fourth, Pillow Talk, appears to be a Charlotte Tilbury website exclusive – something that I find slightly annoying because it happens to be my favourite shade of the bunch, and it would be so much more convenient to be able to get it at a retailer when I need a replacement.
What do you think of these blush wands? Which is your favourite shade?
